During the Nazi regime, millions of people were killed during the dreadful holocaust. Jews and other groups of people were taken to concentration camps to be executed. The biggest and most well-known camp was Auschwitz, 1.3 million people were sent to Auschwitz and 1.1 million of those individuals were murdered. On January 27, 1945, the camp was liberated by the Red Army (Soviet Union).
