Details https://www.recordedfields.net/installations/lofoten-open-form-pavilion-of-air/ (Bla nedover for Norsk tekst) Walk very slowly to allow sounds to enter gradually, notice the borders of these zones where new sounds fade-in, spend time in some places to notice the long sounds develop.

“Lofoten Åpen Form Paviljong av Luft” (Lofoten Open Form Pavilion of Air) is a floating roof of sound extending across areas in front and behind Kunstkvarteret Lofoten, triggered by GPS and accessed via a smartphone, headphones and the echoes.xyz app. Inspired by Polish architects Oskar & Zofia Hansen’s “Open Form” architectural concept (ca. 1959), this audiowork is one of 15 locations in 9 countries in the pan-European Open Form Pavilion of Air series, using sound and site-mapping to offer a playful renewal and reframing of public space as an essential place of engagement for the community. By walking through different zones outside Kunstkvarteret Lofoten while using your mobile phone, the Echoes app and headphones, you become a participatory listener producing a composition in real-time. Your navigation creates a unique choreography via GPS, combining and changing sounds mapped along the site outside the main building through the app. Hear this unique Arctic location and its context become transformed by the sounds forming this floating acoustic architecture, revealing an immersive, profoundly spatial and physical experience. The Pavilion has no visible presence outside the app and can only be accessed and enjoyed on-site at Kunstkvarteret Lofoten.

"Curgenven makes the point that sounds are fundamental to our perception of the world... hearing the complexities of a place and time is intersected by memories of the familiar which are in turn displaced and transformed.” Realtime Magazine (AUS) “Behind the music lurk such [disparate] presences as Alvin Lucier, King Tubby, Murray Schafer and Eliane Radigue.” The Wire Magazine (UK)

3 WOODS Lydvandring: Hva trærne vet / 3 WOODS Sound Walk: What Trees Know - by Mia & Eric

Vandre litt rundt. Legg telefonen din i lommen. ------- 3 WOODS Sound Walk: What Trees Know What Trees Know is an experiment in botanical listening. Residents of Harstad are invited to walk through Folkeparken while imagining what is left unsaid and what remains unheard in the woods. Using a biofeedback device to generate sounds from different trees, shrubs and undergrowth, we have created a sound experience that can only be heard while walking in the forest. What might the birch, sitka, red campion or marsh marigold tell us if we get closer to them? We encourage you to imagine how the sounds relate to the plants around you. Walk slowly. Stop and pause. Retrace your steps. Wander around a bit. Put your phone in your pocket. What is left unsaid? What is left unheard? 3 WOODS is a trilogy of interdisciplinary, site-responsive, and community-engaged artworks about three different forests in Europe: one in Northern Norway (Folkeparken), another in North East England (Chopwell Wood), and one in South West Germany (Palatinate Forest). The projects have been commissioned by Arctic Arts Festival (Norway), GIFT (UK), and Matchbox (Germany).
