Any lasting symbiosis between moths and humans in cities of the future requires that we re-evaluate our relationship with darkness: we must reclaim our wildness. The survival of moths, and therefore of ourselves as a species wholly reliant upon the vital role that moths play as nocturnal pollinators, hinges upon our ability to rethink our relationship with the night. Urban moths have taken one step closer to our diurnal experience of time by desensitising their attraction to artificial light. What will be our next evolutionary move? By walking through different zones along the corner of Sydkaj while using your mobile phone, the Echoes app and headphones, you become a participatory listener producing a composition in real-time. Your navigation creates a unique choreography via GPS, combining and changing sounds mapped along the pier through the app. Hear this harbourside location and its context become transformed by the sounds forming this floating acoustic architecture, revealing an immersive, profoundly spatial and physical experience. Sound in Space is a collection of site-based sonic experiences designed for various public spaces in Tbilisi. ​​How do sonic landscapes conceal or reveal the historical, cultural, environmental and micropolitical forces that produced them? Students from Northeastern University in Boston and the Free University of Tbilisi worked together for a week to develop immersive soundwalks for different spaces in the city. Operating between abstraction and narrative, ambience and description, the interactive compositions annotate the perceived landscape according to the movement of the listener. By shifting the auditory dimensions of a space while maintaining its given appearance, the projects draw out the sonic registers that shape, and are shaped by, that space. Stolpersteine-Audiowalk Rixdorf - Making the stories of people audible, who lived in that part of Northern Neukölln and became victims of the nazi regime. This project is aimed at immersing people in the historical significance of the names inscribed on the small brass plates in the streets, called Stolpersteine. Many people pass by Stolpersteine everyday without noticing them or understanding their significance. Our goal was not only to make people aware of the history behind the names but also to help them connect with it.
