Auf Tuchfühlung mit Klängen

room 28 ECHOES

Location: Eupen, Liege, Belgium

Foreign Tastes of Maastricht

Foreign Tastes of Maastricht

Maastricht. A southeast city of the Netherlands and the capital of the province of Limburg. The place of a strong international character, but at the same time a city, where local culture and heritage is highly valued. Maastricht is a popular destination for tourists, immigrants and international students. It is a city where “local” intertwines with “international” on a daily basis. This phenomenon influences the culinary dimension of Maastricht. According to the www.tripadvisor.com, there are approximately 660 restaurants in Maastricht, and the majority of them serve international cuisine. These are only numbers, but there are real people behind them: immigrants, graduated international students, second and third generations of foreigners. What are their stories? How do they find themselves in the city? And how do they contribute to the culinary scene of Maastricht? In this short guide, we introduce you to the 5 international restaurant’s owners, who want to share their stories and talk about the unique tastes they create. No matter if you are a tourist, immigrant or local, treat this guide as an alternative way of discovering the city, either by sitting comfortable in your armchair or walking together with us!
