Designed for a slow circumambulation of the Bikalpa Art Center courtyard, this is a sequence of sonic scenes, impressions, translations and intersections which are largely inspired by the collision of and interpenetration of location recordings made in Kathmandu, and music I composed while here. I am trying to hear the sounds of Kathmandu, and particular of its quieter, sanctified spaces, as a kind of “song” -- and have tried to find accompaniments to these sounds that both bring out their abstracted musicality, and attune the ears to the concreteness of the picture that sounds can paint of this place.
