The Queering of the Time Travel lives at the intersection of technology, education and social justice. The project focuses on the Christopher Street Piers and the historical metamorphosis of this once active and inclusive part of the NYC waterfront economy that is currently hidden after a gentrifying makeover.
This augmented audio project consists of interviews and storytelling from members of the New York City Queer community that reflect on their experiences in the piers and surrounding area. This intimate work taps into the multifaceted history of the waterfront and includes stories around love, friendship, loss, police brutality, gentrification, immigration, art and music.
The experience is overlaid in various locations around the pier 45 and 46, and can also be listened to and watched via scannable QR codes.
