What flows through power lines is not only electrical energy, but also political, institutional and social power. Electric Eden highlights the connections between electricity, the Catholic Church and the exploitation of natural and cultural resources in the historical process of colonization in Latin America. During the performative walk through Siemensstadt, electromagnetic sounds, which Tatiana Echeverri Fernandez discovered during her on-site research, become audible. She combines these sounds with various narratives, sound compositions, and images that have been transformed into sound files by means of data bending.
The electric eel is an important protagonist of the sound walk Electric Eden which traces colonial narratives of "discovery" through Alexander von Humbold's encounter with the electric eel in South America. The Walk juxtaposes the duality of nature, spirituality with that of capitalism, the catholic church and sience. Singular and unambiguous statements are avoided to allow a mythological and intuitive experience that maps and questions the "Electric Eden". Technical advice: Gustavo Méndez López
