North Street

Throughout North Street, especially north of the Council House, there are many fine Georgian doorways. One or two have magnificent fanlight windows, others have oriel windows above and two buildings have stunning period staircases inside. Above the current shop fronts there is surviving period brickwork, rooflines and in particular an amazing variety, quantity and grouping of chimney pots can be observed. The tall red ceramic chimney pots with slip decoration around the top are Georgian and were made in Fareham.
