Mackintosh-Quarantine Hall - Finley Van Barr

The title of this composition is a play on words based on the location of the recordings: Mackintosh-Corry Hall. This piece sounds slightly insane in some places so I thought the apocalyptic-type name was appropriate. I wanted to preserve the essence of what the hall sounded like while adding new elements with the help of plugins (binaural or otherwise). To achieve this, raw chunks of audio from the hall were quickly and abruptly followed by modified sound effects originating from the source audio. I also sometimes used the binaural plugins for a dramatic effect rather than an immersive one.

Binaural Soundscape Compositions 2019: Queen's University

Soundscape compositions created for binaural headphone listening by students in MUSC255 (Electroacoustic Composition) in February-March 2019. The composition assignment called for engagement with a specific location on campus, gathering sounds from that place and working with them in the studio to create a sonic portrait of the site. Binaural audio requires headphones for listening, and should give a sense of sounds occurring 360 degrees around you.
