5. Re Process Process, Jason Singh

1 sound

The piece explores the making process. It amplifies minute repetitions found in field recordings to create a multilayered listening experience. I have isolated selected non-speech elements from Joseph’s original recordings of ceramic factory visits in Stoke-on-Trent and then re-processed them digitally. I have also utilised samples from my own archive, including recordings made with ceramist, Louisa Taylor, during my residency at the V&A Museum in 2012. By listening to repetitive processes of both manual labour and machines, I aim to explore the meditation on repetition and how through deep listening, we can draw out new melodies and rhythmical structures within the making of ceramics.
