While recording near City Hall, a woman stopped to ask about the project and tried to get her child to add a sound. That small interaction changed the recording completely. This stop explores how public space is not just something we observe — the people moving through it can become part of the soundscape too.

Stratford
When Stratford Speaks is a seven-stop soundwalk through downtown Stratford that explores how sound shapes movement, attention, and our sense of place. The walk moves through warning signals, traffic, conversations, everyday encounters, water, environmental sounds, and music. Some sounds direct us without us noticing, while others can completely change how a familiar space feels. As the route moves away from louder and more controlled sounds, the experience gradually becomes quieter and more reflective. The goal is simple: slow down, move through the city, and notice the sounds that normally disappear into the background.
