What is infrasound? Although typically referring to frequencies that vibrate below 20hz (the lowest pitch humans can perceive), the word itself is curious. Infra is a latin prefix meaning below or further on, while Sound is defined as vibration traveling through the air, perceived by human or animal ears. This suggests that infrasound is not just low frequencies, but sounds occurring beyond our perception, perhaps in volume, or maybe even in recognition.
