Scramble Hour - Julia D'Amico

I wanted "Scramble Hour" to play while walking down university avenue, a busy piece that would allow students to keep their pace on the way to class, while providing enough natural sounds to put them on edge and enough electroacoustic sounds to allow their mind to wander. I wanted wind to have a strong presence in the piece, as Kingston is still in Winter. As well, I allowed for spots of silence throughout the piece so that sounds currently in the environment could filter through, and the experience would differ by person or take.

Binaural Soundscape Compositions 2019: Queen's University

Kingston, Ontario, Canada

Soundscape compositions created for binaural headphone listening by students in MUSC255 (Electroacoustic Composition) in February-March 2019. The composition assignment called for engagement with a specific location on campus, gathering sounds from that place and working with them in the studio to create a sonic portrait of the site. Binaural audio requires headphones for listening, and should give a sense of sounds occurring 360 degrees around you.
