Status. 3 category. Rare species. Habitat. Found in the North only during migration. Biotope. Mature mixed woods or pure pinewoods near lakes, water pools and bogs. Biology. Migrant. Appears in the territory in April. The creatures are fast and persevering. May settle in the same tree for up to over ten years. Makes its own nest. Inhabits artificial nests. In the second part of April lays 2-4 white eggs. Incubates for 2 months. The off-spring leave the nest right before migration. Until then in the nest they learn the most important skills of survival. Feeds on small mammals, reptiles. Abundance. Too little data to make conclusions, though currently the observations of this species are increasing. Protection. Preservation of nesting places, nest installation. Level of dangerousness: 2. Presumed to be not dangerous.
