An investigation of finding and amplifying the light in a dark, inhospitable place.
This underworld urban landscape, devoid of plant life and smothered in the darkness of the overhead highway is a metaphor for our time. There is a relentless overhead rolling of rubber tires--a reminder of forests and cultures destroyed for our convenience. The car engines powered by fossil fuels is a constant reminder of our self-induced climate crisis. And yet, there is green life on the edges and narrow beams of light break through the dark. A single human figure dances in that light, amplifying hope and shining disco light magic through the starkness of the situation.
“Maybe you have to know the darkness before you can appreciate the light.”
Madeline L’Engle
“There is a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in.”
Leonard Cohen
