The Motive

When questioned, the man reveals that he is also a student and a member of the basketball team.

He was angry because he wanted the team captaincy instead of James. He was Jealous. He saw himself as a much more talented player than James and he deserved the captaincy more. After the team won the match, James and the murderer got into a nasty fight and James got away, running to the HUB. The killer chased after him and murdered him. The second victim was a friend of James and had witnessed his death, so she had to go too. So as she fled back towards Drapers to get help, the killer murdered her too.

The killer wanted to punish the coach for not choosing him for the captaincy which is why he was next on the list.
