Rattlesnake Island

1 sound

The large island on the left is Rattlesnake Island. It’s the fifty largest island at 368 acres and is also the highest, rising 390 feet above lake level. Rattlesnakes were found there as late as 1946, but none have been seen since and shoreline development continues. Rattlesnake skins and other artifacts from the lake’s natural history can be seen at the Libby museum, located n Wolfeboro on Route 108 at the Tuftonboro town line.
