The Pond

If you are looking for a little break from the city, the locals would recommend Lake Tjörnin. Right in the middle of Reykjavik, the body of water is technically a lake but is rather affectionately referred to as a pond by most due to its shallowness. There is not much animal life living beneath the water, but the pond attracts all kinds of birdlife - see how many different species you can spot! During the winter, when the weather gets cold and the days get short, the water freezes entirely, and the lake becomes a perfect place to ice skate.
