Wednesday, 4/24/19 at 8:45 AM: Rolling-beating rhythm of metal wheels turning on the tracks. Conductor announces, "Final stop, Newark." A high-pitched creak as the door slides open, followed by a loud slam as the door locks the into place. As conductor says, "This one. Watch your step," a loud horn blasts twice. Alongside the louder horn of the passing train, there is a constant ding-ding-ding of the train's bell. Once I step off the train and onto the platform, the steamy exhales coming from our train gets louder. The horn of the other train plays again, but this time it is softer and echoing from a distance. There is a pause where the only sound is the train's humming engine. Then, I see someone I know. At the same time, we say, "How are you?" I reply, "Good." End clip.
