Status. 2 category. Rapidly nearing extinction. Habitat. 3 populations were known until now. Biotope. Old river beds, small ponds, which may dry out during summer. Biology. Upon hatching in the beginning of May, the offspring mature in two weeks. Reproduces until September. The eggs remain lively in the mud for several years. Feeds on plant remains in the mud, also small biplane insects. Abundance. A creature very rarely found in the territory, but in its inhabited biotope – quite abundant. Protection. Preservation of water pools, where these creatures are found. Level of dangerousness: 2. Holds no threat to humans.
