Village Memory

This is a distorted memory of being in a Hindu village compound connected to Villa Kalisat, Ubud. The long ethereal sounds of a beautiful Gamelon instrument builds to an unorderly composition. Like a dream the rhythm loses it's way, increasing in intensity and is then cleansed by the distant prayer on the speaker from a ceremony being held down the road. Dewa plays the flute and the local villagers can be heard. In a sense this sound can reflect the beauty, but also the overwhelming sensation and uncertainty of being in a culture different from ones own. This is through the lens of an outsider.
