This piece explores the mundanity and pedestrian nature of frequenting the food trucks as student at UChicago. In one sense, the street represents a place of refuge from academia or a break in a typically long and taxing day. While students unwind by the food trucks, the people operating the mobile restaurants work to maintain that result by repetitiously outputting orders. The piece also comments on the kinds of socialization that occur in an academic environment where students prioritize grade outcomes. Against the booming, industrial sounds representing the food truck operators movements, chit chat ensues in which students discuss their concerns about their own academic outcomes. This juxtaposition represents a divergence of the human experience on a typical day into two or more worlds.
