Church of England Burial Ground

1 sound

This location, now known as Pioneer Park, is the site of the Church of England burial ground. The park was created following the resumption of the site in 1965, and surviving headstones from the ground may be found here. The oldest surviving headstone is that of Isaac Stephens who built the first hotel at the western end of Thomas Street and cottages in Pardoe Street. When you are ready, make your way East on Drew Street, then left on Wright Street.
