Block 1307: An Uncommon History

Curated as a contemplative, listener-shaped listening experience, this self-guided, on-demand soundwalk invites participants to explore one Midtown block as a layered historical and cultural field. Centered on the Seagram block (Park to Lexington, 52nd to 53rd), it uses geolocated audio zones where music, field recordings, and archival traces overlap, fade, and recombine as listeners move, pause, or retrace their steps. There is no prescribed route and no single “correct” reading: each body composes its own path through precolonial ecologies, rail and industrial histories, residential and cultural transformations, and corporate modernity. This walk was made for the 2026 Jane's Walk NYC
