1 sound

This composition is an auditory representation of David Nash's Red Throne (1991; cast 2012). My piece touches themes of decay, death, and the passage of time, reflecting the sculpture’s raw, textured surface and the cycled nature of life and death. I intertwined natural and environmental sounds such as creaking wood, the knock of a wooden door, the sound of a rocking chair, and rustling leaves to create a sound journey that mirrors the process of aging, deterioration, and finality. The looping of certain elements, especially the mourning, sad violin, was meant to symbolize the unwavering progression of time. I also added subtle transitions, such as the fading presence of birds and wind to highlight the inevitable approach of stillness and death.
