This piece was recorded outside of Botterall Hall, located on the south-east corner of campus. The recordings were taken at late afternoon. Using the ATK plugin, the ATK FOA Encode Planewave format to create a sense of 360 degree listening. The main sounds in this environment include people talking, wind, footsteps, cars, and busses. This created a sense of a smaller urban atmosphere.

Binaural Soundscape Compositions 2019: Queen's University

Kingston, Ontario, Canada

Soundscape compositions created for binaural headphone listening by students in MUSC255 (Electroacoustic Composition) in February-March 2019. The composition assignment called for engagement with a specific location on campus, gathering sounds from that place and working with them in the studio to create a sonic portrait of the site. Binaural audio requires headphones for listening, and should give a sense of sounds occurring 360 degrees around you.
