Status. 1 category. A relic species, nearing extinction. Habitat. Found singularly. Biotope. Fens abundant with mayflowers, in proximity with lakes, and damp meadows with an abundant growth of Lysimachia punctata. Biology. The creatures can be found scouring around tall foliage in the evenings and during the night. Live up to 20 years old. Spikes are dark brown in colour, at the end of summer, violet-grey stripes appear on the backs. Concentrate in small colonies, build a new nest after hibernation. Abundance. Total abundance is small, because of a very specific biotope. Protection. Prevention of changes made in the biotope by surrounding settlements. Level of dangerousness: 1. Not dangerous.
