The Ronj

First house built on Frye Street, dating back to ~1871. Bates acquired the house in 1939 and rented the house to Norm and Majorie Ross, for whom it is named Bates College put a student-run cafe in the building in the late 1990s. This cafe, known as the “Ronj” (for the intense color of its painted walls), is a place to study, socialize, network, and enjoy coffee.
