Save the Curlew by Emic. In partnership with UK Youth for Nature, this piece is for drawing attention to one of Northern Ireland's most endangered species. This being a curlew, in Belfast Live's article by Shauna Corr, called one of NI's "most iconic species" with a decline of 82% since the 1980s. This bird species is in serious need of aid. RSPB's Sara McCracken mentions that there are only around 550 known breeding pairs as of 2013. Today, this may be even less.
This piece for the most part is made up of an image of a young man. However his face is obscured by the curlew flying past. The man isn't what is not the focus point here, the curlew is. It is captured in immense detail and due to the shading and darker colours overall compared to the man, it stands out far more. It also showcases what's been in front of us all along and what we may still lose.
