Sidestepping Suite

This short suite of songs and soundscapes draws on Ukraine’s rich caroling and song tradition. Carols mark seasonal transitions — the winter and summer solstices, new year, Christmas, spring and autumn equinoxes — and reflect on the benefits and blessings of the season, expressing a deep gratitude for the earth and all it provides.

I hope this suite of songs, experienced in these forested paths of the Cobechenonk, gives listeners a chance to sidestep the limits of our contemporary ways and tap into all of our senses.
