Mandie Brooks - La Gran Ola

Tsunami at Brighton - Sound Design Installation. This sound track is created for multitrack surround sound, “mix as you walk” through this sound installation experience. I have recorded most of the water effects myself with a Tascam hydrophone plonked in the sea. Although, whilst working with the water alot in this piece, I began to realise that water effects often sounded very serene and "wishy washy"…as if laying on a beach listening to the waves. I found that using mostly rumblings gave the effect more so, and ferocious water effects sparcely, and now and again. I used “Latch” on moving Channel EQ effects to give the feel of water pressure and movement in the rumblings, and low pass EQ for rumblings, reverb and delay were used in this piece to give a sense of depth and space.
