Crossman is best known for his controversial diaries which revealed the inner-workings of government and which have subsequently inspired the production of other political diaries, as well as the BBC Television series ‘Yes Minister’. Dick, as he was known by close friends and family, was everything from a poet and journalist, Labour politician, diarist, and broadcaster. He was one of those men whose interests were extensively broad and diverse, ranging from politics and theology, to sports, poetry, theatre and opera.
