Where the Performance Never Happened - BCMW 26
Where the Performance Never Happened is a locative sound project that explores the relationship between place, memory, and musical reconstruction. Rather than documenting the sonic environment of Bled as it exists, each work begins with a field recording made at a specific site and transforms it through instrumental performance and digital processing into a new acoustic artefact.
The resulting compositions do not seek to imitate the locations in which they were recorded. Instead, they offer imagined responses that preserve traces of the original environment while reshaping them through artistic intervention. Heard in situ through SonicMaps and Echoes, each piece occupies the same physical space from which its source material was gathered, creating a dialogue between the listener's present surroundings and a reconstructed sonic past.
Together, the four works invite listeners to consider how sound can both document and distort place, asking what remains when a moment of listening has passed and only its echoes endure.
