Council House

1 sound

The front part, the Council House, was constructed in 1731 by a local architect. The Assembly Room to the rear was added in 1783 and the Old Court Room in 1800. The Assembly Room was built to a design by James Wyatt and is one of only a few 18th century Assembly Rooms still used for their original purpose. James Wyatt also worked as an architect for Goodwood House.
