1 sound

The tale of the mermaid of Marden starts at the church in Marden, the tale states that a man was too enthusiastic when ringing the church bell and as he was ringing the bell it fell off and rolled into the river. The villagers scoured the river until they came across the bell on the shore of the river Lugg, on approach they found that a mermaid had entangled herself with the bell. She was summoned by the villagers and was commanded to hand the bell back. The mermaid refused to give the bell back and swam away hiding the bell in a pond near to the church.
