The composition for “Little Seed” by Peter Randall-Page is inspired by the sculpture’ s connection to its role in nature. The seed symbolizes growth but also highlights the underlying mathematical structures present within something as pure and organic as nature. The piece incorporates the natural sounds of fall layered over piano and string chord progressions that are meant to reflect both the promise and tension of growth. Subtle percussion is added to introduce the presence of structure in the sculpture. The result is a composition that (hopefully) depicts the balance between “Little Seed’ s” physical, emotional, and thematic elements.
