When You Weren't Looking by Kitsune Jolene. This piece was erected in front of one of Belfast's best architectural examples. Painted on a temporary board fence, the title takes on a duel meaning. That art like this can just, pop up out of seemingly nowhere and perhaps disappear just as quickly.
The title itself may be a reference to magic being around us. In the artists own words, "couldn’t decide on which myths or folklores from the rich Irish culture, so I wanted to play with the idea that magic always comes your way when you’re not looking for it."
The piece was painted by Kitsune, a Belgian artist who was nominated for Best of 2022 by Street Art Artists. This piece was a part of the Hit the North in 2022. An event which gathers 50 local and international artists and asks they create artwork around their cities. With talent from all over the world it is even more of an achievement that this work made it as a nomination.
