World War Two marked a turning point in the history of Huntertown. The upheavals of the war years gave some residents new opportunities.

Jesse Voyd Bottoms rose from humble beginnings to become a distinguished Baptist minister and preside over one of Kentucky's leading black churches for 36 years.

Military veterans played an important role in creating Huntertown and leading the community throughout its history

Although most Huntertown residents worked in agriculture, a few found employment in other industries. For Jerry Williams, the Riney B railroad provided a path to stable income and status.

Former Huntertown residents recall the Bluegrass Parkway as "the beginning of the end." In the mid-1960s, construction of this limited-access highway through Woodford County dramatically altered the community.

Between the 1930s and the 1960s, baseball reigned as the leading form of recreation at Huntertown. Residents fielded several baseball teams that competed with other African American teams from across Central Kentucky.

During the 1990s, conditions at Huntertown became desperate. The drainage pattern caused by the Bluegrass Parkway left the community waterlogged and prone to flooding.
