»Spuren des Hasses« – Stadtrundgang zu israelbezogenem Antisemitismus in Berlin-Mitte

DANA PAPACHRISTOU - SOFTSCAPES HARDSCAPES - Sound and Materiality in Berlin Biennale 10 - Workshop GIORGOS SAMANTAS - More than (what) meets the eye - Listening walk The workshop focuses on capturing the soundscape inside and outside of the exhibition venues and examines the aural relation between resonating artworks and visitors. During its first part the participants will create DIY microphones with which they will later record the sound of materials and the exhibition space itself, thus forming the soundscape of their presence inside and outside the venue. During the second part, these recorded sounds will be combined to create a collective audiowalk, a geo-located walking musical piece, that will be placed around KW Institute for Contemporary Art and will be freely accessible for the visitors to download and walk through, converting the map of the city and the paths they will choose to an improvising musical score.

Please, do the walk between 12 pm and 20 pm. "Parallel lines do not intersect. But I have always wondered where fiction and reality intersect, or whether reality is not fictional after all. This audio walk is inspired by true events. A city is so multi-layered, and as a passerby, you only get to see and experience the tip of the iceberg. That’s why I would like to introduce you to some recent shady cases from Berlin-Mitte that you will never otherwise hear about."

HOW TO WALK THIS SOUND WALK: 1. Download the Walk beforehand! (oval button with indication of MB next to the 'STREAM WALK' button above this text) Even if you have a very good mobile data contract, the most uninterrupted experience is ensured when the sound walk is already downloaded to your Echoes app. 2. Activate the 'Autoplay' function! When you click 'STREAM WALK' you access the walk. You will enter a map screen and at the top right hand is a 'hamburger menu' (the three horizontal stripes)! Click there and you will be presented with the 'Autoplay' option at exact that position on your screen. 3. Use so-called 'open headphones'! Open headphones have the advantage that you can hear outside noises more easily and therefore offer better environmental awareness. The piece will redirect your attention and alter your experience of the place and your surroundings. The result is a new, or rather a renewed perception of the place through an augmented acoustic environment.
