Echoes of Ubud

Echoes of Ubud

"Echoes of Ubud" is a soundscape project set in the natural jungle environment of Ubud, Bali, through the lens of an outsider. The project aims to create an immersive audio experience for listeners that captures the beauty of the surroundings at Villa Kalisat, including the village. The soundscape will be divided into two distinct geolocated echoes that will transport listeners to different areas within the location. Selfishly, I had hoped these sounds would work as a memory trigger to escape to when I'm back in the rushed monotony of life in the city.

Tanjong Pagar Episode 02 - A Ticket through Time

At the height of Singapore’s golden age of cinema, Tanjong Pagar was a vibrant hub for film and entertainment in the 1950s and 60s. A Ticket through Time, the third episode in The Everyday Museum’s Speaking of which self-guided audio trail series, invites listeners to trace the neighbourhood’s cinematic heritage. Through the eyes of Hannah, a time-traveling narrator, step back into the bustling Metropole Theatre at the junction of Maxwell Road and Tanjong Pagar Road, and revisit relics such as Gay Yau Studio on Choon Guan Street, where artists crafted hand-painted advertisements for the silver screen. Directed by filmmaker Jessica Heng, produced by Bambby Cheuk, with sound design by Lynette Quek, this docu-narrative hybrid reimagines the scenography of life in mid-century Tanjong Pagar, inviting reflection on how the evolution of entertainment mirrors Singapore’s broader socio-cultural changes. The experience begins at the cross junction before Maxwell Food Centre, opposite Fairfield Methodist Church, once known as the Metropole Theatre. Listeners will journey down Tanjong Pagar Road to Tras Link Park and Tanjong Pagar Plaza, before ending at Tanjong Pagar Community Club. Speaking of which is commissioned by The Everyday Museum in partnership with the National Archives of Singapore.

Tanjong Pagar Episode 01 - An Organic Terminus

We would love to hear your feedback on this audio trail, please take some time to click on the link [here](https://theeverydaymuseum.questionpro.com/speakingofwhich) to help us improve on this ongoing series. When our social fabric had to be displaced and resettled in the name of rapid modernisation in the 1970s, what happened to the many places that once thrived with creative and convivial communities? An Organic Terminus, the first audio trail of the Speaking of which series, plugs the gaps in Tanjong Pagar's narrative by reimagining its past and envisioning its potential futures. Listen to personal oral history recounts interwoven with reimagined soundscapes and speculative fictional texts by artists Chong Li-Chuan and Ang Kia Yee as you venture from Singapore Art Museum at Tanjong Pagar Distripark to the former Tanjong Pagar Railway Station, Yan Kit Road, Duxton Road, Banda Street and Smith Street.

Rail Corridor Episode 01 - A Living Blueprint

We would love to hear your feedback on this audio trail, please take some time to click on the link [here](https://forms.microsoft.com/r/xTMGsBT9yV) to help us improve on this ongoing series. Explore the southern stretch of the iconic Rail Corridor and uncover stories of the many guests—both human and non-human—that the old railway line has played host to.    Drawing from her interest in forest networks and plant consciousness, artist and sound designer Tini Aliman gives a voice to the swathe of wilderness which has silently observed diverse ways of life along the Rail Corridor through the use of field recordings and foley. Tune in to personal oral history recounts interwoven with speculative fictional texts by Nuraliah Norasid, narrated by Nadya Zaheer, as well as a podcast segment by wildlife conservationist and environmentalist Elliott Ong and Qiyun Woo as they converse with SAM curator Selene Yap.   This self-guided audio trail marks the shifts and changes along the Rail Corridor in the areas adjacent to Spooner Road, Jalan Bukit Merah, Telok Blangah and Jalan Kilang Barat. Speaking of which - A Living Blueprint is commissioned by The Everyday Museum, a public art initiative by Singapore Art Museum, in partnership with National Archives of Singapore.

Taman Tugu: Interference/Resistance

Taman Tugu: Interference/Resistance

Walk the Taman Tugu forest trails; a reclaimed jungle in the centre of Kuala Lumpur. The sonic world of the jungle will be at turns merged with, augmented, and disrupted by electronic sounds that were created from field recordings gathered in Taman Tugu park itself. Real-world and recorded sounds will combine to create an immersive musical experience. Deep within the park, the sounds of the city will die away completely and the sounds of nature take centre-stage. At the edges of the park, where the skyline of Kuala Lumpur becomes visible, the sounds of the city encroach on, and disrupt the sounds of nature. This is a unique location – a reclaimed green space teeming with wildlife, in the centre of a modern metropolis. ‘Taman Tugu: Interference/Resistance’ is a location-specific meditation on the fight to preserve these kinds of spaces in an increasingly urbanised world. There is no set path to follow in order to experience this piece. Explore the park, taking any route you wish, and the music and soundscapes will soundtrack your wanderings.
