Off Highland Road sits Baton Rouge's oldest graveyard. The site fell into neglect after the Civil War and later shrank due to the 1920s development of the College Town subdivision. It was partially rediscovered from new development around LSU; the very development hiding it from view. It is maintained and restored by volunteers along with the non-profit Historic Highland Cemetery Inc. Though gone—some for over two centuries—the people buried still have a voice through the life which grows above them; biosonified.
