Ryan Woods
Ryan Woods is a sound artist and electroacoustic composer based in Manchester, UK. He has a very diverse array of interests going beyond the acoustic realm to fine, visual and conceptual art. He is concerned with the ecological and decolonial potential of his work seeking to democratise participation within his work.
His sound art is often concerned with ecological issues, soundscapes and place. After completing an undergraduate dissertation in music and sound art’s potential role in creating ecological sustainability, he is now undertaking a Masters in Electroacoustic Composition at the University of Manchester.
His current focus is on exploring the use of narrative in soundscape composition as well as community soundwalks as a method of engagement with place.

Where have all the islands gone? Underwater, every one. Why have all the people come? For survival every one. Where have all the food crops gone? Gone to deserts every one. Where have all the children gone? Gone to war zones, every one. Where have all the creatures gone? Gone extinct, every one. Where have all the humans gone? Gone to history everyone. Why must all the rebels come? For survival every one!
