This sound-walk was created to illuminate the serenity and calmness of a stroll through this Long Prairie landmark. Wearing of headphones or ear pods provides for the best experience. Utilizing your device's GPS location, the music begins as you enter the park.
Riverside Park was conceived of, developed, and built by the Works Progress Administration (WPA) during the drought years of the mid-1930’s, and completed in 1936. The project called for the development of 2.5 acres of pasture land along the bank of the Long Prairie River, near the intersection of Hwy 71 and Hwy 27. The Sportsman’s Club building was used as a gathering place. Boy Scouts would hold retreats and banquets here.
