North Norfolk Coast History

North Norfolk Coast History

For help using the Echoes App, please visit vtsw.uk/echoes This isn't 'a walk' as such, it's more a collection of interesting places in North Norfolk. Some are close to each other, but generally they tend to be quite far apart. You could walk between them, but it would take you a while! Holkham Hall

Holkham Hall

PLEASE NOTE: This is just a sample to show the Holkham team an example of what we could do for them. For help using the Echoes App, please visit vtsw.uk/echoes Thomas Coke, the first Earl of Leicester, conceived this Palladian Hall as his vision of an Italian villa on the windswept north Norfolk coast. The family has lived in this house continuously since the 1750s, though at Holkham since 1612. They take great pride and joy in sharing the house and its treasures, the deer park and Holkham beach, with visitors. Holkham is still privately owned and is the centre of a thriving 25,000 acre agricultural estate which provides resources both to maintain the house, and to ensure that the social fabric of rural life remains intact. However, Holkham has not stood still and has worked hard to move with the times. In recent years, enterprises have expanded to include a holiday park, several shops, property development and an internationally acclaimed inn. Ramsey : Through Our Eyes and Ears

Ramsey : Through Our Eyes and Ears

Ramsey : Through Our Eyes and Ears , is a sound walk recorded, produced, and composed by members of CRUNCH Ramsey Youth Group. This work was created through a series of workshops co-led by Karen Frances Eng and myself. Led by Karen, the young people, aged 11-16, produced a virtual reality work based on the walk and locations that hold a special meaning to them. They also produced a tagtool animation which they also collaboratively created. There will be a link to view these at some point in the near future. I led the audio side of the work, and facilitated the recording, editing and composing of the sound work with the young people in Ramsey and at Wysing Arts Centre's recording studio. The workshop was facilitated by Wysing Arts Centre, Bourn, Cambridgeshire in partnership with The Ramsey Neighbourhood Trust. July 2022

Sleaford Heritage Trail

Sleaford Heritage Trail

The market town of Sleaford in Lincolnshire dates back to the Iron Age. It was later occupied by the Romans and Anglo-Saxons. In the Middle Ages it belonged to the Bishops of Lincoln. It is now an administrative centre for the surrounding parts of Lincolnshire. With this app you will join Sleaford’s ECHOES trail which will introduce you to characters from the town’s past. ECHOES of the town’s history will be heard as you approach buildings and sites on the trail. At each location you will find a green Heritage Trail plaque with NFC and a QR code linking to the audio- visual presentation from which the trail ECHOES are taken. In several locations you will also find a bronze Art and Heritage plaque.
