To celebrate World Listening Day, this sound walk invites us to listen to the world around us and consider how the world is listening to us. What does it hear?

Stories in the Snow

on a cold cold weekend, we gathered to listen, to make sounds, and to record, and to weave the recordings into compositions. Listen for our presence in this winter world and consider how we are listening and the world is listening to us.

Considering how we interact with the world, how our presence is felt and heard by the earth, water, trees, birds, animals, insects, rocks – by all who are around us.

This is a playful/experimental meditation on how we impact our environment with all f our "marking – mark making, sound making, thing making, versus moments of just witnessing/monitoring where we ar not actively, in that moment, changing or interfering with our environment.

Jane's Walk 2025 - Can trees be places too?

As part of the Town's 3rd Annual Placemaking Week, we invite you to join us for a fun and interactive Jane's Walk where we explore whether trees can be meaningful places in our community! It won't be up to us to solve this mystery though, let's let the trees speak for themselves! This is a tech friendly activity for all ages and requires a smart phone with data coverage and ear phones. If you don't have one, please still join us and you can listen in on our device! We will meet at 6:00PM at the New Tecumseth Town Hall, located at 24 Tupper St. W. in Alliston. From there, we will undertake an approximately 45 min walk around the community, listening to the tales of our community's trees... to finally answer the question, can trees be places too?
