Wilda at night

1 sound

Wilda’s monologue 1: [curious] So much time and so little to do with it…! The night time is not what I expected. I’m breathing in the freezing cold air not hearing a single bird or insect or anything. Just me and the soft crunch of damp grass beneath me . It’s all pitch black too: no warm glows from houses, torches, not even a firefly (Did we ever even have fireflies here…?). [Nostalgically] It’s not as if indoors was exciting. My nights were filled with meticulous strokes of ink forming rows on rows of financial calculations. Paper was piled up in a towering neat pile opposite my lantern, but I always finished my work the moment before sunrise. [Now annoyed] I don’t blame the Gnomes for scaling back their mining operations, I would do the same. But what do I do now? Just sleep like everyone else? I haven’t done that in years!
