Comfort was born in Gold Coast, a British colony on the Gulf of Guinea in West Africa, now known as Ghana. She arrived in Sutton with her husband in 1962. The British Nationality Act of 1948, gave all Commonwealth citizens free entry into Britain to help boost the labour market post World War 2. Here she describes her thoughts on arriving in Britain.
