This magnificent Cedar of Lebanon is one of the oldest trees in the park. It’s going to tell you a little about its history.
"I was planted by Sir James Clitheroe on 31 May 1754. The Clitheroe family lived in Boston Manor House for over 250 years. During those times the House was filled with the daily hustle and bustle of domestic life, family gatherings and it was even host to Royalty with King William IV and Queen Adelaide coming for dinner in 1834. I have seen how industrial and transport development has changed the sounds and sights in the park. The Grand Union canal was built in 1794 and the M4 motorway in 1964. In 1924 the park was handed over to London Borough of Hounslow and for a short while the House was even a school before its beautiful restoration was completed in 2023 – I do hope you’ll go and visit. I’ll stand watch here, listening to the sound of children playing and people walking in our park".
