Chapter 09: Continuous Cities 05

In this continuous city, there is a profound and fascinating space of its own; it is not a neighborhood or an alley, but a small single-storey building that only has one entrance, and leads to a small square where the theater is located. A gate and a gatehouse appear at this place; like magnets, they drew the visitors on this place from all around the city; if they had tried to avoid the gates, they would never reach the entrance, nor would the gatehouse make any difference to the view of the city. It is clear that the residents of the place thought of this gatehouse as one of the significant figures of the place, and so they made it accordingly.

The gatehouse is a place to observe from. The building stands in the middle of the square, which is the central, natural, and featureless place that is ever-expanding and growing all over the place. The gatehouse appears as an element on the landscape; all of the sculptures that are scattered all around the city are such elements. Each and every building is so different from its surroundings, and the gates are like the magnifying glass that spreads the brightness in its surroundings as if they were creatures that were taking off the sadness and colors of the surroundings. A place filled with joy and colors, a pleasure to take in at first sight, and then an exciting confrontation with reality. For a moment, when a person gets close enough, one can get away with illusion and idealism.
