Tides of Avalon were formed in 2019 by Edinburgh-based friends Alan, Berni and Ross. Inspired by bands as diverse as Stereolab and Fleet Foxes, they wanted to experiment with blending harmonious male and female voices together with acoustic guitar and electronic instruments. Concentrating on writing original material, over time their sound developed and crystallised to focus more on acoustic instruments incorporating piano and flute into their arrangement (along with the odd electric guitar), though always featuring two or three-part vocal harmonies.
